Full-Time Remote 40 hrs/week

About Us

At Bestow Nonprofit Accounting and Consulting, it's both our privilege and our passion to serve nonprofits that are working to transform the world. We partner exclusively with mission-driven organizations, helping them strengthen financial operations, improve workflows, and create reporting that is not only accurate, but meaningful.

We're passionate about helping nonprofits thrive, and we believe the people doing that work deserve flexibility, balance, and a team that genuinely supports one another.

Our team is grounded in strong core values, open communication, and genuine collaboration. We listen carefully to our clients' needs so we can provide thoughtful solutions tailored to the realities and challenges nonprofits face every day. We care deeply about doing excellent work, supporting one another with grace, and building long-term relationships with clients who inspire us through their missions and leadership.

About the Role

We're currently looking for a remote Senior Accountant to join our specialized team in a full-time role (40 hours per week). This position is ideal for someone who loves nonprofit accounting, values flexibility and autonomy, and enjoys building strong client relationships while working alongside a supportive and highly collaborative team.

In this role, you'll work directly with nonprofit clients across the U.S., providing outsourced accounting and advisory services that align with our values and commitment to excellence. You'll report to our Accounting Services Manager and play a key role in helping organizations gain clarity and confidence in their financial operations.

Responsibilities

As Senior Accountant you will provide accounting services to our nonprofit clients located across the US. This role will report to our Accounting Services Manager, and is accountable for fulfilling responsibilities including:

  • Accounting service delivery — the primary focus of this role entails working alongside our nonprofit clients and with our team to ensure that client books are up to date, reconciled and closed each month. As nonprofits have specific accounting needs, this role requires deep technical skills, comfort with decentralized processes and with the utilization of technology, particularly cloud-based accounting tools.
  • Client relationship management — beyond the numbers, you will serve as Bestow's main point of contact with each of your clients, and you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the relationship is strong. This will entail maintaining excellent communication and establishing the best workflows to collaborate with key contacts within the clients' organizations.
  • Projects — each client has unique needs, whether it be during the initial stages of our engagement, or during their lifecycle when improvement to processes or the adoption of tools may be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to work on projects with clients such as revamping their chart of accounts, exploring tech tools to help them better categorize grants or other expenses, or simply streamlining processes.
  • Mentorship and review — our Senior Accountants work closely with our Staff Accountants in a mentorship capacity. Our Staff Accountants perform tasks to support our client engagements, and leading them through support and training is a rewarding part of this role.

What We're Looking For

Our team is seeking a Senior Accountant who:

  • Has strong technical skills to include a strong foundational knowledge of general ledger accounting. This person will have the ability to fully reconcile each balance sheet account, familiarity with GAAP for nonprofit organizations, knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable including experience processing invoices, expense reimbursements, cash receipts, credit card expenses, and maintaining the proper supporting documentation.
  • Has a well-developed ability to work with cloud-based accounting tools. Our core toolbox includes QuickBooks Online, BILL, Gusto, and other tools to promote transparent collaboration with our clients. The ability to work through integrations among our tools, syncing of tools and data, and to troubleshoot tech issues is a huge plus.
  • Has the ability to communicate clearly and directly with fellow accounting team members and also with our clients. This individual should be able to maintain healthy boundaries surrounding the scope and terms of our engagements, and to promote strong relationships with our clients.
  • Has the ability to work in a self-directed manner and to set work priorities independently while at the same time working to be a part of our team. This individual should be extremely detail oriented and organized, completing tasks in an efficient and timely way.
  • Leads with positivity, works with us to set standards through the quality of work, and works to support fellow team members while seeking to continuously learn and grow.
